The objective of this report is to gather the various tourism-linked variables, while a summary analysis of the most notable results is provided, along with an explanation of the development of the main statistics and future trends and a more extensive reference framework to put the rest of the report's information into context. 

The report begins with a synthesis and analysis of trends with the aim of focusing attention specific aspects such as the global, the Spanish State and the Catalan region perspectives as well as the development of supply and demand, the traits that typify the tourists who come to the territory and management of the increasing tourist activity.

In the report’s chapters, that were already released in different various capsules throughout this year, readers will be able to find the ordered data according to each of the various themes in which the tourism phenomenon can be broken down, along with a brief introductory comment before each section

This edition differs from previous ones in its incorporation of a new level of territorial analysis: Barcelona region, which includes Barcelona Province, less Barcelona city, and thereby supplements the two areas there had been so far: Barcelona city and Destination Barcelona (equivalent to Barcelona province). It, therefore, offers a complete view of Barcelona; in other words, first, on the general level with Barcelona province, and second, a more local perspective that distinguishes the city from the other municipalities. This new structure allows us to provide a much more careful response to the aim of achieving not just better quality but also less congested tourism, from the city of Barcelona towards the region.
