The Barcelona Tourism Observatory: city and region publishes a new Destination Barcelona tourism activity forecast report (June 2024 edition).

The main conclusions of this new edition of the report are presented below:

• Air capacity in Barcelona in June is expected to exceed 5.7 million seats. On 17/06, Barcelona airport will recover its direct air connection with Hong Kong, thanks to Cathay Pacific.
• 75 cruise ships are expected to arrive at Barcelona Port this month, slightly ahead of June 2023.
• The cultural and leisure agenda in the Destination will be featured by several music festivals (Primavera Sound, Share Festival, Sonar, etc.) and other large concerts such as Bruce Springsteen. In sports, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will hold a new edition of the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix. As for culture and traditions, various events related to Corpus Christi, such as the Patum of Berga, are worth mentioning
• The congress with the most expected attendance will be the Congress of the International Society of Blood Transfusion - ISBT 2024 (4,000 attendees).
• In addition, several fairs will be held, the largest of which will be the SIL Barcelona (12,000 attendees).
• Several source markets will enjoy school summer holidays from this month: Italy, Spain, South Korea, Singapore, the United States and Canada.
• In the last month, Google searches for Destination Barcelona have registered higher levels than in 2023. The most popular online search terms keep being Sagrada Familia, in Barcelona city, and some coastal destinations, such as Castelldefels, Sitges, Blanes, and Calella, in Destination Barcelona.
• In the last month, Destination Barcelona has maintained its international online positioning, ranking 7th for accommodation searches and 6th for flights.
• Hotel bookings made during the last month were led by the domestic market and bookings from the USA were the most frequent international bookings in Barcelona city, those from France, in Barcelona region. 6 out of 10 bookings were for travelling as a couple.
• Bookings for stays in June in Barcelona city are slightly ahead of last year's in the same period, while in Barcelona region, they are behind them.
• In comparison with other European destinations, Barcelona city has a similar level of hotel bookings to Berlin and Rome, while Barcelona region is well below.
